Foremost, I try to understand WHY I would want to diet. There are many reasons, but my prior reasons are: to reduce a heart disease risk, to reduce my diabetes risk, to be in better control of my life, to intake as much vitamins through out the day as possible, and to feel and look better. Go ahead, take a piece of paper and a pen, write down 5 most important reasons why you would like to start dieting, and if those reasons are motivating enough for you, then it is time to start, and to start NOW!
I read somewhere that sleep is one of the main routines you should follow in order to be successful in your dieting journey. I try to get a good night sleep, I usually sleep around 8-9 hours a day. I always feel very stressful if I don't get enough sleep. Apparently, this leads to increased stress hormones (cortisol) and that will eventually will lead to a slower metabolism. So, sleep a sweet number of hours at night!
My other key element for successful dieting is HONEY. Honey increases your metabolism and is also a powerful antioxidant! I use it instead of sugar with my green/black tea. I have a spoon-full of honey every morning before I have breakfast! I add it in my salad. I put some honey on a little piece of white cheese/any cheese. Oh, there is so many ways you can incorporate honey in your diet! So if you are not allergic to honey, then a little here and there will definitely help your diet. You may even feel younger!;)
And here comes the hardest, but the most satisfying "ingredient" of your diet: EXERCISE.
I love to sweat. I love to know, that an abundant amount of toxic stuff is getting out of my body through sweat. I like running when it is still warm outside. I also put more clothes, so I can sweat even more. I try to run for at least 15 minutes straight, or do an interval running for 30 minutes. After I run, I do some conditioning for major muscle groups in my body. This will help you stay toned and shaped up. Stretching is also a part of my work out. I always have some vitamin water with me, this is how I refill my already toxic-free cells with the new stream of vitamins and minerals. So, remember, exercise plays a major role in your dieting. Run, walk, jump or stretch with the bottle of water in your hand.
To sum everything up. My dominant diet items are: understanding why, sleeping, honey and exercise. Of course, there are many more things I incorporate in my diet, but the above is my almost-every-day routine. You think, huh? Hey, all of us have different approach to what works best. I found my way, and will try to keep it on track through out my life. Wish you Best!
